I recently moved to Cyprus and it struck me that at any one time there must be many different nationalities living here and that in some sense they all need to discover the same things about the place they live.
When you grow up somewhere it's obvious where everything is and you don't have to think about how to find it. When you move to a foreign country there's all sorts of things you need help with. So I thought it would be useful to have a Wiki that had some of that sort of information in it.
Things like:
- Where's my local supermarket?
- How can I find a doctor?
- Where's good to eat?
- I've got guests in town where will they stay?
- I just want to meet other people who share common interests!
- ...
The list goes on. Practically everything you can think of. So then I had another thought, I've got a few expat friends and family spread around the world in places like: Korea, Poland, China, South Africa, United States and in some ways they've all got the same problems in this respect. So this site is for us, and anyone else, who is in someone else's world and wants to share some of what they know.
